Motion

We can do a lot with a static illustration but digital books allow us to go a step further. and give the characters more depth and a wider range of emotions by animating them.

Any element in the scene can move and add to the drama of the scene : an ominous shadow growing bigger, leaves fluttering in the wind or waves crashing onto a moonlit shore.  The possibilites are endless and they all help tell  the story and add to the digital reading experience.

But it's characters that carry the story and it's through their gestures and expressions that the narrative comes to life.

It could be a bat swinging from a treebranch, squirrels gathering nuts or a mosquito's raised eyebrow.  It's through these individual gestures that the character's relate to us, whatever our native language.
